Head Potter

Are you passionate about pottery, with the technical expertise and leadership experience to lead a team of skilled potters?

We are looking for a Head Potter to take overall responsibility for the professional development of our pottery team, the quality of our production, and the management of our ceramics workshop.

You are an experienced potter or ceramic artist with many years of hands-on experience and a genuine passion for the craft. You have an in-depth understanding of the entire ceramic process and particularly enjoy the journey of clay—from wedging to a bisque-fired mug.

Key Responsibilities

- Train, coach, and support both new and existing team members.
- Ensure consistently high quality and craftsmanship across all products.
- Develop and optimise workflows, production methods, and ceramic techniques.
- Research and test new materials, tools, and production techniques.
- Contribute actively to innovation and the ongoing development of our ceramic collections in close collaboration with the design team.
- Source materials, monitor inventory levels, maintain and build strong relationships with external suppliers.
- Take responsibility for the layout, organisation, and continuous improvement of the workshop.

We Are Looking For Someone Who
- Is an experienced potter or ceramic artist with extensive practical expertise.
- Has solid experience with wheel throwing and all stages of the firing process.
- Has experience leading or coordinating a ceramics workshop or production team.
- Is a skilled teacher and coach who enjoys developing the skills of others.
- Is curious, proactive, and keeps up to date with new materials, techniques, and industry developments.
- Communicates clearly in English and inspires others through expertise, respect, and enthusiasm.
- Is motivated by efficiency, continuous improvement, and the day-to-day operation of a modern ceramics studio that delivers exceptional quality at a competitive price.
